Teton Wireless Static IP Settings Guide

 

Before you begin:  you will need the following information, which your Teton Wireless technician provided to you at the time of installation:

IP Address

Subnet Mask

Default Gateway

Domain Name Server (DNS) addresses

 

Click on your operating system for instructions:

For Windows 95 / 98 / Millennium:

  1. Click on the Start Button.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Double-click on the Network Icon. This will open up a Network Connections Window.
  5. Scroll down until you find one that says TCP/IP -> (network card name).
  6. Highlight the one that our modem is plugged into. Note: Usually you will have two TCP/IP listings. One will say Dial-up after it. You want the other one.
  7. Click the Properties Button. This will open a TCP/IP Properties Window.
  8. Make sure to set it to Specify an IP. Note: It is usually set to Obtain an IP Address Automatically by default.
  9. Enter in the IP Address and Subnet Mask assigned.
  10. Click on the Gateway Tab.
  11. Enter in the Gateway Address and then click on the Add Button.
  12. Click on the DNS Configuration Tab.
  13. Make sure to Enable the DNS.
  14. Enter in the Host Name and Domain Name provided by us.
  15. Enter in one of the DNS numbers you received from us in the DNS Search Order Suffix and then click the Add Button.
  16. Enter in the second DNS number you received in the same spot as you did the previous one and then click the Add Button.
  17. Click on the OK Button to close the TCP/IP Setting Window.
  18. Click on the OK Button to close the Networking Window.
  19. Your computer will then copy some files and then ask you to reboot your computer. Note: You may need to provide your Windows 95 / 98 CD.
  20. Click on the Yes Button to reboot your computer.
  21. You are done!

 For Windows NT:

  1. Click on the Start Button.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Control Panel
  4. Double-click on the Network Icon. This will open up a Network Window.
  5. Click on the Protocols Tab.
  6. Highlight TCP/IP Protocol and then click on the Properties Button. This will open the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties Window.
  7. Make sure the Adapter is set to the one that our Modem is connected to.
  8. Select Specify an IP Address.
  9. Enter in the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway assigned.  Click on the DNS Tab.
  10. Enter in the Host Name and Domain Name provided by us.
  11. Click on the Add Button for DNS Service Search Order.
  12. Enter in on of the DNS Addresses that we provided you with.
  13. Click the Add Button.
  14. Repeat Steps 12 - 14 for the second DNS Address.
  15. Click the OK Button to close the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties Window.
  16. Click the OK Button to close the Network Window.
  17. Your computer will then copy some files and then ask you to reboot your computer. Note: You may need to provide your Windows NT CD.
  18. Click on the Yes Button to reboot your computer.
  19. You are done!


How To Add IP Settings (For Windows 2000):

  1. Click on the Start Button.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Control Panel
  4. Double-click on the Network and Dial-Up Connections Icon. This will open up a Network and Dial-Up Connections Window.
  5. Right-click on the Local Area Connection that our modem is plugged into.
  6. Choose Properties. This will open the Local Area Connection Properties Window.
  7. Scroll down until you find one that says Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] and click on it so that it is highlighted. Note: Do NOT uncheck this.
  8. Click the Properties Button. This will open the Internet Protocol [TCP/I] Settings Window.
  9. Make sure to set it to Use the following IP address. Note: It is usually set to Obtain an IP Address Automatically by default.
  10. Enter in the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway assigned.
  11. Select Use the following DNS server addresses.
  12. Enter in the DNS numbers you received from us.
  13. Click on the OK Button to close the Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] Setting Window.
  14. Click on the OK Button to close the Local Area Connections Properties Window.
  15. Your computer will then copy some files in the background. Note: You may need to provide your Windows 2000 CD.
  16. Reboot your computer.
  17. You are done!

For Windows XP:

  1. Click on the Start Button.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Control Panel
  4. Double-click on the Network and Internet Connections Icon. This will open up a Network and Internet Connections Window.
  5. Click on the Network Connections Icon.
  6. Right-click on the Local Area Connection that our modem is plugged into.
  7. Choose Properties. This will open the Local Area Connection Properties Window.
  8. Scroll down until you find one that says Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] and click on it so that it is highlighted. Note: Do NOT uncheck this.
  9. Click the Properties Button. This will open the Internet Protocol [TCP/I] Settings Window.

 For Macintosh Computers:

1.  Find System Preferences and double click

2.  Find Internet & Network and double click on network

3.  Single click on TCP/IP tap near the top of the window

4. Single click on configure and choose the "manually" option

5. Fill in the I.P. address

6. Fill in the subnet mask

7.  On a Mac computer the "Router" is the "Gateway" ;  add the Gateway IP address here here

8.  Click on DNS servers fill in the primary DNS address, and press enter and then fill in the secondary DNS IP address

9.  Click on “Apply now” and you are done!
