Vyyo Powers Teton Wireless Broadband Deployment to
Country's Largest Rural Subscriber Base
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Vyyo Inc. , a global supplier of broadband access equipment for cable
and private wireless broadband network solutions, today announced that
deployment of its solution by Teton Wireless, the nation's largest rural
provider of broadband wireless Internet access and video services, has
exceeded the 8,000 household mark.
Teton Wireless, which operates
within portions of Idaho and Montana, utilizes Vyyo's V2800 IP Broadband
Hub and V280 Data Modems. Operating over licensed 2.5 GHz spectrum, Teton
provides high-speed Internet services to unserved and underserved
communities across a more than 15,000 square mile footprint.
"We are thrilled to enable
high-speed Internet access for rural customers everywhere," said Davidi
Gilo, Chairman and CEO of Vyyo. "Our technology addresses a significant
market demand. By working with leading operators like Teton Wireless, Vyyo
is bringing affordable, high-quality, highly-reliable data services to
small markets that have no other broadband alternative."
"Despite the best efforts of cable
and telecom providers, there continues to be significant areas where
high-speed Internet simply is unavailable," said John Mansell, wireless
broadband analyst for Kagan Research. "With its low- cost infrastructure
requirements, fixed wireless has become a leading platform for bridging
the 'digital divide.'"
"The challenge in any rural
deployment is reaching thousands of customers that are widely dispersed
across a very large area," said Gene Twiner, founder, president and CEO of
Teton Wireless. "Vyyo solves this problem with a cost-effective solution
that offers several clear advantages. First, because of the tremendous
range of Vyyo's technology, we are able to service a large coverage area
with only four transmission hubs. In addition, it is DOCSIS(R) based,
which means that our customers are receiving the highest quality of
service available anywhere."
Teton Wireless launched its
broadband service in 2002 to create a competitive advantage against
satellite providers, and deployed the Vyyo solution in 2003 based on
superior results against alternative products. Teton's wireless packages
are priced as low as $19.95 per month, and include higher-performance
offerings for home users, gaming enthusiasts and home offices.

About Vyyo Inc.
Vyyo provides cable and wireless broadband access solutions. Our products
are designed for use by cable television and telecommunication operators,
wireless internet service providers (ISPs), utilities and enterprise. Our
cable solutions include cable system spectrum overlay solutions designed
to expand cable operators' typical HFC (hybrid-fiber coax) network
capacity in the "last mile" by up to 2x in the downstream and up to 10x in
the upstream, addressing bandwidth demand for T1 and other advanced
services. Our wireless broadband solutions enable utilities and other
customers to operate private wireless networks for communications to their
remote assets and customers. Typical applications include high-speed
internet services, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), voice
over internet protocol (VoIP) and telephony (T1/E1), all based on modified
Data Over Cable System Interface Specification (DOCSIS(R)) technology. For
